Hamas announced in a statement on November 26th that it is seeking to extend its four day truce with Israel if serious efforts are made to increase the number of Palestinian hostages released.

The truce between Israel and Hamas entered its final 24 hours on Monday. The international community has called for the four day truce to be extended. US President Joe Biden said on Sunday that he would like the truce to be extended for as long as hostages are being released.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that he would welcome extending the truce if a further 10 captives are released on every additional day. However, the Israeli PM also told Biden that, after the truce ends, “we will return full force to achieve our goals: The elimination of Hamas, ensuring that Gaza does not return to what it was; and of course the release of all our hostages.”
