According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 178 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours. According to reports by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, four Palestinians were killed and 21 others injured when Israeli bombardment hit east of the Jabalia refugee camp on Saturday. Since October 7th, 25,105 people have been killed and 62,681 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza.

“You want to return home?” Please report if you identified one of them.” These were the words written on leaflets dropped in the southern Gaza strip. The leaflets had a list of names of Israeli captives, a phone number and a link to a website containing images of the captives. The captives were taken during Hamas’s attack on southern Israeli on October 7th. The leaflet suggested that anyone who could assist the Israeli forces in locating the captives would be “rewarded”.

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres denounced Israel for the “heartbreaking” deaths of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. He told Al Jazeera that the resolution to the bloody Israel-Palestine conflict lies in “a two-state solution”. However, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated his opposition to an independent Palestinian state. In a phone call with US President Biden on Friday, the PM stated that a sovereign Palestine is unacceptable because his country needs to maintain full security control over the Palestinian territories to ensure Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel.
