The truce between Israel and Hamas has been extended for a seventh day, said Qatar, which has been acting as the mediator between the two sides. The truce was announced minutes before it was set to expire at 7 a.m. (0500 GMT) on Thursday.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry said the truce was extended under the same terms as in the past, under which Israel has released 30 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 10 Israeli hostages per day. The initial four day truce which began on Friday has now led to a seven day ceasefire.
