He rose from the Bhagavad Gita to the Iliad, the Embrace of Arjuna and Achilles. A stage performance will be held on Thursday, 23 April 2024 at 7 pm at Experimental Theatre Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. This is a joint artwork between the Company Adishakti (India) and ENSATT Lyon (France).

The project, named “Heroes”, focuses on the two most important mythological characters in Europe and Asia: Arjuna, considered as one of the best archers of the Indian epic Mahabharata and Achilles considered as the greatest warrior of the Trojan War in the Iliad. For their outstanding actions all along their epic adventures, both are recognized as heroes.

The Iliad and the Mahabharata were written after the events took place. Both stories were written somewhere in the sixth or seventh century B.C.E. The Iliad took place at the end of the Trojan War and historically the Trojan War was believed to have ended in 1180 B.C.E. The Mahabharata historical events are not pin pointed to an exact time frame due to religious beliefs and evidence contradicting the other. It is figured to be in 3102 B.C.E. due to historical evidence of the Kurukshetra War.

Adishakti seeks out other types of creation, artists and idea generators to develop its own artistic practice, workshops, retreats and creations in a space that encourages hybrid expression.
