On Wednesday, November 29, The Minister of Commerce held a conference with his local parliamentary members regarding the upcoming national elections. Tipu Munshi stated to the reporters present at the conference, “Politics and business are two distinct domains. The US and the European powers will never succeed in their schemes to sabotage our garment industry.” Regarding the price of sugar, he said, “Although we sent an application to NBR to reduce the tax on sugar import, it was declined due to the rise in the value of dollars. There is currently no domestic production of sugar, and imports of Indian sugar have been discontinued. Hence, there is no possibility to reduce the price of sugar for now."

"Although there has been a global rise in the price of imported products, the government has been trying wholeheartedly to get a handle on the market”, stated the Minister of Commerce. Referring to how the upcoming elections have instigated a festive mood, Tipu Munshi stated, “Awami League’s 15 years of reign has made the country digitalized and developed. This is why the citizens of Bangladesh want to see our honourable Prime Minister in power again. They are eagerly waiting to vote for “Nauka” and Awami League as the leading party again.”
