Sheikh Hasina is ranked 46th on Forbes’ list of the world’s most powerful women. Recently, Forbes released its list of the world’s 100 most powerful women, and Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, came in at number 46. Notably, she is ranked ninth out of eighteen powerful women in the politics and policy area, one of six categories in which she appears. She secured 42nd place the year before. As the longest-serving prime minister in Bangladeshi history, Sheikh Hasina is in office for a fourth term and has presided over the Awami League’s resounding electoral triumph, winning 288 of the 300 parliamentary seats. According to Forbes, she is the world’s longest-serving female prime minister.

For the second year running, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, is at the top of the list. She is recognized for having led the EU’s reaction to the Covid-19 outbreak and the crisis in Ukraine, followed by, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, and Kamala Harris, Vice President of the United States. Giorgio Meloni, the prime minister of Italy, is fourth on the list, and Taylor Swift comes in fifth. Nirmala Sitharaman, the Finance Minister of India, comes in at number thirty-second. Since 2004, Forbes has been creating this list, taking into account several aspects such as income, prominence in the media, impact, and reach.
