Ekushey Book Fair Opens on February 1st

Only a day remains before the Bangla Academy’s Amar Ekushey Book Fair, the premier event of our literary calendar opens its doors. Preparations for the Amar Ekushey Book Fair in Bangladesh have been in full swing for the last few weeks, with its opening on February 1. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to inaugurate the fair, which commemorates the historic Language Movement of February 1952.

Commemorating the historic Language Movement of February 1952, Bangla Academy organizes a book fair on its premises every year. Thousands of book lovers from across the country visit the fair venue.The book fair originally began its journey on the Bangla Academy premises informally in 1972, and it became institutionalized in 1978.

Organized by the Bangla Academy, this year’s book fair will feature 895 stalls from 573 organizations, including 37 pavilions. This year, Bangla Academy is solely managing the event to address past criticisms. The month-long fair will offer cultural programs, seminars, and activities for children and teenagers, contributing to the vibrant literary atmosphere of the country.
